»Deported to their Deaths« - Room of Names

The names of the Jewish people deported to Riga on December 15th, 1941, are listed alphabetically on nine panels. The following details are recorded:

  • Date and place of birth
  • The last street address in Hannover (or previous residence, if a person moved to Hannover after January 1st, 1941).
  • For 40 men, there is reference to their imprisonment in the concentration camp Buchenwald.
  • A reference to the forced relocation into one of the mass accommodations for Jews, the so-called Jews’ Houses (German: Judenhäuser) in September 1941 (or later).
  • Information on the later fate of deportees.
  • A reference in cases where a “Stolperstein” (“stumbling stone") was installed in memory of a person between 2007 and 2011.
